Sweet litte Ryder had his newborn photography session at just 8 days old. Mom and dad love the water, so we had fun incorporating lots of water themed props. His parents are also the authors of the DIY blog SewWoodsy so of course we had to bring in some "woodsy" themes too! Baby Ryder slept like a champ, giving us lots of smiles and making my job super easy. Congrats to this new family of three (or four if you include big sister Lola - who watched protectively over Ryder the whole session)!
Ever heard of a Fresh 48 session before? I had, but never had the opportunity to be a part of one until my maternity client (and good friend) Katie asked me. From the moment she contacted me, I was intrigued. A Fresh 48 is a documentary/lifestyle type session done within the first 48 hours of baby's life. They’re the alternative (or an addition) to birth photography and take place at the hospital, home, or birth center. Katie didn't want her labor and delivery documented but she did want to capture those first few precious moments of new life.
I love this idea so much I'm including these sessions...
I got to meet baby Juliana when she was only seven days old. This newborn little girl slept like a champ through most of her session and seemed to wake up just for some family photos. I love all the props and accessories I get to use when photographing newborn girls. I always encourage my clients to incorporate personal or sentimental items in their photos. Mom had a special blanket that was made by her sister-in-law we were able to use. Also, since this little girl was born right before Easter, we captured some adorable Easter images you will see below.
I can't tell you how many times I tell her to watch out for puddles. "Oh, don't step in that. You'll get your shoes wet!" And every time I see the quiet disappointment on her face, I flashback to my childhood. I remember that feeling. That urge to break the stillness of smooth water with one forceful smash of my foot.
So on this day I said, "Grab your boots, girl". Because sometimes, you need to bend routine. Sometimes you need to jump in puddles.
Besides, we have a giant puddle at the end of our driveway that was just begging to be jumped in.
The world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful....
I was very excited when my good friend and local artist Tracy from KrankyKrab asked me to take product shots of a new line of pillows she created for her store. She's a print illustrator who specializes in whimsical children's art and had recently decided to branch out into the 3D realm by putting her characters on pillows. I've always been a fan of her work and my daughter has several of her pieces on her bedroom walls. During our session, we were able to capture some lifestyle shots of her creative process. Tracy first draws everything by hand and then scans them into the computer to finish all of the details....
This lucky little guy celebrated his second birthday at Green Meadows Farm. I met his lovely (and growing) family before the party started to capture some images of them as they are now (before the arrival of their newest addition). Then the party kicked off with a farm tour where the children got to hold and feed all sorts of animals, milk a cow, and ride a pony. Everyone had a fantastic time - the birthday boy most of all!
Katie and Jon are going to make one beautiful baby boy. These two are just so photogenic, aren't they? I had the pleasure of photographing this expecting couple at Cypress Grove Park before they officially become a family of three. Our original session was rescheduled after several days of rain and when the sun finally made an appearance, it seemed like all of Orlando decided to head out to the park on the same day as our Maternity shoot! But we managed to find some quiet spots and some gorgeous light and we made some really beautiful images. Congratulations you two and thank you for having me document...
