]]> Ever heard of a Fresh 48 session before? I had, but never had the opportunity to be a part of one until my maternity client (and good friend) Katie asked me. From the moment she contacted me, I was intrigued. A Fresh 48 is a documentary/lifestyle type session done within the first 48 hours of baby’s life.  They’re the alternative (or an addition) to birth photography and take place at the hospital, home, or birth center. Katie didn’t want her labor and delivery documented but she did want to capture those first few precious moments of new life.

I love this idea so much I’m including these sessions in my packages. I wish I had done something like this for my daughter’s birth. The post-delivery time is like a hazy fog of memory. I was so happy, but so exhausted at the same time. Isn’t it that way for most new parents? Imagine having a photographer there to capture those precious details before they are lost to that haze of memory.

Capturing these images was a privilege for me.  Katie and Jon – congratulations on the newest blessing in your life!
